Title
Anordnung zur Detektion biochemischer oder chemischer Substanzen mittels Fluoreszenzlichtanregung und Verfahren zu dessen Herstellung
Other Title
Plate detecting chemical and biochemical substances by fluorescence excitation - is readily constructed using semiconductor processing techniques and used for rapid, precise automatic testing, focusing light emitted onto individual CCD detectors.
Abstract
A new arrangement detects biochemical or chemical substances by fluorescence excitation. The novelty lies in the plate substrate (1) used in the detection of diverse samples (5), which has locally-defined structure. Preferably, on the detector side, a lens array (2) corresponding to the structuring, focuses fluorescent light from the samples onto the detector array. Corresponding with the structuring, various selective immobilisation layers are applied. The structuring takes the form of pyramidal or conical openings (6) at least to the buffer layer (3) in the substrate (1). Also claimed is the method of assembling the detection system, essentially as described. USE - To detect chemical or biochemical substances by excitation of fluorescence, in e.g. biochemistry, molecular medicine, pharmaceutical development and analysis. ADVANTAGE - The construction of the plate is simple, and precision in detection is high. Large numbers of samples may be examined rapidly. The detector may convenien tly take the form of CCD array, allowing the light from each individual sample to be detected. Optical isolation between samples prevents interference between results. Use of conventional semiconductor processing techniques allows sample densities up to 106/cm2.
