Device for the handling of grain-oriented workpiece tracks, panels or similar workpieces (10) by means of focused light, in particular electric sheet steel, by means of a light beam directed at a handling line (12) mainly running transverse to the domain orientation (11) while a workpiece (10) is conveyed. In order to achieve a compact, simple design of the device, the latter is designed in such a way that the light beam (13) impinges on the grain-oriented workpiece (10) simultaneously with other light beams (13') and that several light beams (13, 13') illuminate a common handling line (12) and/or a set (14) for the parallel spaced (30) handling lines (12) of the conveyed workpiece (10).
