Visibility and camouflage - How to combine computer-graphics and physiology
Abstract
This paper describes a new approach to determine the optical impression of objects on the landscape combining the standard methods of computer-graphics, image analysis, physiological aspects of the human visual system and physical conditions of the environment using the example of overhead lines. Well known terms as visibility or camouflage are described by figures resulting from a newly introduced simulation process. It can briefly be described as follows: a: 3D-reconstruction of the scenery in question b: Selection of observer position and target object c: Image formation d: Image analysis An application for planning overhead-lines illustrates the results of this technique, respectively the importance adequate visualization tools.
