Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the production of a classification system to detect the quality of a road surface by means of ultrasound having the following steps: a) Bombardment of the road surface with ultrasonic waves at a frequency range of 40 to 100 kHz and at transmit angles and receive angles of 0 ÄdegreesÜ to 30 ÄdegreesÜ; b) Measurement of the diffuse and specular reflection values and time windows of the same; c) Signal-adapted filtering of the receive signals; d) Measurement of the receive intensities and standardization of the same separately for each receiver and each measurement direction; e) Measurement of the variances and standardization of the same separately for each receiver and each measurement direction; f) Display of the standardized and non-standardized intensities and variances measured in steps d) and e); g) Use of a neural network as a classifier for the mean values determined in step f); h) learning of the neural network with the mean valuesgenerate d in step f). The classification system can be used to adjust and adapt the driving characteristics of a vehicle to the characteristics of the road surface over which the vehicle is travelling.
