The invention relates to a device for the inspection of systems for the processing of audio signals. By correlating the input signal and the output signal, the signal delay time of the system to be inspected is determined. Accordingly, firstly, the differential signal is formed from the input signal applied during a certain time period and the output signal applied at a signal delay time and then the spectral composition of the input signal applied during the certain time period and the related differential signal are determined. On the other hand, the spectral composition is first determined and then the differential signal is formed. In both cases, the monitoring threshold of the human ear is determined from the spectral composition of the input signal and compared with the related differential signal.
