Abstract
Setting in investigations on safety aspects, various propane-air mixtures with a volume of 0.125 cbm were centrally ignitted. The spreading spherical flame front has been analized using a high-speed camera and two different spectrometer systems for data acquisition. To registrate the emitted radiation in the ultraviolet and visible spectral range, a commercial fast lattice spectrograph was applied. The water bands in the near infrared (1000 to 2500 nm) were detected by a system developped at the Fraunhofer-Institut für Chemische Technologie. Its dipersive medium is an acustooptic tunable filter, consisting of a TeO2-crystal and a piezo-element generating the acustic wave. The photographs of the high-speed camera were used to calculate the spreading velocity of the flame front, the rotationally resolved molecular spectra to determine its temperature.
