Abstract
Laser beam cutting of fibre-reinforced plastics leads to high emissions of smoke and dust. This may cause a health risk for machinery operators due to high inhalable dust concentrations. Also, the emissions of various gaseous compounds, i.e. benzene, represent a problem. A detailed characterization of the emissions of a variety of fibre-reinforced plastics is presented. The risk potential may be minimized by suitable disposal systems.
