Abstract
The Extruder-Pilotplant at ICT is equipped with two extruders, the C 37 type and the ZSK 58 type, for processing nitrocellulose propellants, LOVA-propellants and PBX. ON-line-rheometer technology is also currently being used. The processing technology using the extruder for nitrocellulose propellants, a LOVA-propellant with CAB and the PBX will be discussed. A comparison of continuous extruder process and the discontinuous batch-process will be made on the example of NC- propellant, the LOVA-propellant and the PBXN-106, which were processed under a Navy-contract at ICT. The noteworthy reduction of production costs with the continuous processing method is clearly demonstrated by these examples.
