Title
System architecture and exchange strategies for mobile visualization
Abstract
This paper describes problems, which arise when exchanging objects that should be visualized on mobile computers, and demands on a system architecture, which are derived from these problems. Based on this demands, an architecture is presented, where applications tranparently exchange objects via a so called Object Bus. Main components of this architecture are Message Handler processes, a Network Scheduler, and a Transfer Manager. These components make the efficient use of the available communication channels possible by using object specific methods of data reduction and prefetching, by adaption of transfer to given Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, and by a scaleable planning logic with consideration of contexts like local resources, available communication channels, and user preferences.
