Aerosols and microgravity
Abstract
Particle formation processes play a decisive role in the atmospheric and materials sciences. An important advantage of aerosols as compared to liquid dispersions is the absence of surface and electric double layer effects which makes interpretation of experiments much easier. Due to the fact that many important processes are either extremely nonlinear or have time scales where gravity disturbs the system, microgravity offers unique experimental possibilities for studying environmental, technical and fundamental processes.
