Title

Self-tracking ultrasonic inspection

Abstract
Safety-relevant components made of high-quality materials are especially subject to severe quality assurance tests because even small defects habe to be detect. The Institute for Nondestructive testing of the Fruanhofer Society (IZFP) in Saarbrücken designed and consturcted a high-frequency ultrasonic test system using a precision robot. This system automatically acquires and adapts itself to free-form surfaces and, in a second step, performs the ultrasonic test.
