Abstract
Induction-Laser- and Case-hardening are techniques to obtain surface microstructures with high resistance against wear and tear. The contribution refers the results of micromagnetic QND-techniques to evaluate the hardening depth. Depending on the material (steels and case-iron) Barkhausen-Noise-measurements allow the detectability up to 4 mm depth whereas Incremental-Permeability-measurements are restricted to hardening-depths up to 2 mm.
