Abstract
Despite the overall strong trend towards the certification of quality systems according to the ISO 9000 standard there are severe reservations expecially from small and medium enterprises. They fear that they have to commit to standard processes and could so loose flexibility which is considered as a critical success factor. The "Integrated Quality Management" approach shows a way to reduce pr ocess standardization to an extent that makes sense and at the same time to initiate the continuous improvement process at all company levels.
