Title

Qualification of electronic hardware for the automobile environment

Other Title
Umweltqualifikation von Elektronik-Bauteilen fuer den Einsatz im Automobil
Abstract
A new electronic system controls the convertible top of a roadster as well as the locking of the car, the electrical windows and the operation of a collapsible turn-over frame. To ensure a proper function of this safety-related device under automobile environment conditions, an extensive environmental qualification program was carried out. Mechanical, climatical and other tests as well as safety protection tests have beenapplied. Endurance and functional behaviour have been checked at extreme conditions and have been evaluated with respect to the reliabilityof the system.
