Titel
Production of ClNO2 from the reaction of N2O5 with NaCl- and sea-spray aerosol. A contribution to subproject HALIPP
Abstract
Conclusions: The branching ratio of ClNO2 production to HNO3 production is reevaluated to be 1a/1b=2.4, independent of the aerosol water content over a wide range. The branching ratio of the reactions 1a/1b for a NaCl solution of 18 weight percent NaCl is independent of pH above pH = 2 and decreases slightly at smaller pH. The production rate of Cl atoms is larger in the presence of simulated sea spray aerosol than in the presence of pure NaCl aerosol.
