Title

Production of ammonium dinitramide (ADN) particles

Other Title
Herstellung von Ammoniumdinitramid-Partikeln
Abstract
Ammonium dinitramide (ADN) spheres can be shaped in a 2-phase system. Molten ADN is dispersed in a continuous phase which is not mixable with ADN. Caused by the surface- and interfacial tension the molten droplets take on a spherical shape. Emulsions from molten ADN and different oils are investigated. The solidification of the molten droplets to spherical particles takes place during the cooling down below the m.p. of ADN. By the choice of suitable substances and optimizing the process parameters, spherical ADN particles with a mean size from 5-800 .mu.m are produced.
