Abstract
It will be shown that there is a correlation between the quality of the weld seam and the degree of full penetration. Two methods of monitoring the degree of full penetration have been developed. One method is to detect the emission of the plasma below the workpiece. As well a method to monitor the degree of full penetration from above has been found. It will be proved that there is a correlation between the plasma fluctuations above the workpiece and the degree of full penetration. This correlation is the basis of the method of monitoring the welding process from above /1/.
