Amorphous Fe-Ta powders were produced by mechanical alloying. The preparation of the mechanically alloyed FexTa1-x powders was carried out in the composition range 0.2 equal or smaller than = x equal or smaller than = 0.8. The degree of amorphization was monitored by X-ray diffraction measurements. The alloys provide materials with very high crystallization temperatures, up to 1034 deg C at the composition Fe30Ta70.
