The radiation induced transmission loss reduction of a phosphorus (P) containing gradient index fibre has been investigated with respect to the suitability for radiation dosimetry purposes. The emphasis was concentrated on the determination of linearity range, reproducibility, dose rate dependence, fading behaviour, and the useable temperature range.
