Multiphase jet solidification
Abstract
Two Institutes of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, the Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) and the Institute for Applied Material Research (IfaM) are developing a new rapid prototyping technique which allows to produce prototypes with different plastic, ceramic and metallic materials. The first apparatus of this technique, named "Multiphase Jet Solidification (MJS)", was constructed and built and metal parts of different materials were produced. The basic idea of this technique is to extrude low viscous material in different phases, dependant on aimed material, through a jet. Results of this developments will be presented.
