The traditional packaging shielded food against mechanical stress, humidity, light influence, contaminants, insect attack, microorganisms, off-flavours. Reduced packaging cannot always guarantee the full protection. Therefore using new packaging materials, the minimum shelf life dating has to be checked. Producer, trade and consumer should accept shorter dating.
