Title

Long Range Detection of Corrosion by Guided Shear Horizontal (SH-) Waves

Abstract
SH-guided waves in plates and pipe walls can be reliably used for a first and economic corrosion mapping. Their physical properties offer a couple of benefits compared with guided waves polarized in the plane of incidence. The couplant free excitation of these waves by EMATs is a further big advantage for the practical application. Furthermore the selection of the most appropriate modes can be easiliy performed via the excitation frequency.
