Titel
Light switching using micro-encapsulated liquid crystal films
Abstract
Micro-encapsulated liquid crystal films have been prepared, which switch the amount of transmitted diffuse light by values approaching 30%, depending on the film thickness and applied voltage. Examples of spectrally dependent transmission, voltage dependence and angular distribution of the scattered light are presented. Such switchable films can be considered for non-mechanical variable shading elements to prevent overheating in TIM systems.
