Abstract
The nail is designed to penetrate into the marrow cavity of a bone, in order to hold broken parts of a bone together. There is a ratchet-like device with teeth (12) of a saw-tooth shape formed on the sides of transport rods (5,6). There are holes in the end of the nail which assist in fastening the distal end of the bone to it. The proximal part of the bone grows into holes in a hollow housing at the other end of the nail. The saw-tooth-shaped teeth on the transport rods engage with matching teeth (14) on the ends of spring rods (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple ratchet adjustment system for nail engaging in marrow cavity to hold broken bone together.
