Titel
Influence of tempering temperature on the fatigue strength of a diffusion alloyed high-strength sintered steel
Alternative
Einfluß der Anlaßtemperatur auf die Schwingfestigkeit eines hochfesten diffusionslegierten Sinterstahls
Abstract
A high-strength sintered steel produced by admixing diffusion alloyed Distaloy AB (Fe-1.75Ni-1.5Cu- 0.5Mo) with 0.5% graphite and 0.5% MnS (in order to improve machinability) with a density of 7.1plusminus0.5 g/ccm was subjected to different quenching and tempering treatments. Aim of the investigation was to obtain a material with high fatigue strength and acceptable machinability for the production of heavy-duty components which have to be submitted to finishing operations involving some material removal. In order to obtain design relevant fatigue data, the fatigue tests had to be carried out with unnotched and particularly notched specimens under different stress ratios.
