Title
Henry's law constants for polychlorinated biphenyls. Experimental determination and structure-property relationships
Abstract
Methods to experimentally determine Henry's law constants (HLCs) can be roughly divided into two parts: kinetic and static thermodynamic methods. Here a dynamic method is presented, which combines the advantages and avoids the inherent difficulties of these two methods. A technical mixture of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) was analyzed and 58 PCB congeners have been reliably identified. In addition, 11 PCB congeners were found, which are less reliably identified. The measurements have shown that a sytematic dependence on the chlorine number and substitution pattern can be estabilished. This set of HLCs allows formulation of some estimation equations.
