From Workpieces to CAD-Drawings - Processing and Segmentation of Contours

Abstract
For some applications in industry it is necessary to generate CAD-data sets from existing sample parts. The geometry of twodimensional parts can be described by contours. The geometric description in sense of a CAD-integration requires the determination of geometric primitives from the contour data. In this paper a method for the automated segmentation of contours into lines and arcs is described. The method is based on the calculation of the tangent angle. An industrial application is described within this paper.
