FALIXS is a fatigue strength information system. It consists of a knowledge based system for fatigue life prediction and a fatigue strength and stress data base. It predicts fatigue life with a maximum of reliability in all design stages of automotive components. The experience knowledge of constructors, experts in analysis and fatigue is collected and kept ready in the system. Experts in fatigue are able to modify the implemented knowledge without computer specialists and programming knowledge. The powerfullness of the system is its concept for evaluating the reliability of fatigue life prediction results. The use of FALIXS and with that the access to safe and systematical edited knowledge will lead - to fast and safe comprehended statements about the fatigue life of automotive components, - to reduction of expensive and time intensive tests in the pre design and the optimization stage, i.e. reduction of time and costs of design stages, - to uniform evaluation and improvement of proce dures and methods - and in the end to a further optimization of life time and strength of components.
