Titel
European End-of-Life Systems for Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Abstract
This paper provides an overview of current end-of-life systems in three Western European countries, namely Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. It is explained how brown and white good products are collected and processed once they have reached the end of their life-cycle. For this purpose, tables with qualitative information on collection and processing scenarios are given, as well as a table with quantitative cost information on recycling. Also, the most recent developments in European and national legislation on producer responsibility and takeback obligation are addressed. The paper concludes with an outlook on the way product end-of-life scenarios will develop in the future.
