Both powerful graphics workstations and PCs as well as wide spread networks available for acceptable prices are the requirements for a new form of communication tools. These tools - called electronic desktop conferencing systems - enable users to communicate in work groups. Members of a work group can be geographically distributed if a connecting network is provided.
