Title

Electrical discharge machining of titanium boride - statistical design of experiments using Taguchi's method

Abstract
This paper presents results obtained from a Taguchi experiment on the Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) of Titanium Boride. It begins with a short outline of the foundations of Robust Design. Steps in conducting matrix experiments and the methods of data analysis are discribed as applied to the case of Electrical Discharge Machining of Titanium Boride. From these results technological conclusions are drawn. A prediction of the optimal parameter combinations for maximizing the working results is derived and additional experiments are conducted to verify the quantitative prediction of the working results. The working results have been improved by more than 100 percent from the initial experimental conditions to the optimized parameters.
