Abstract
The work of deformation of energy consumption during shearing of the two plain carbon steels with 0.1 wt% and 0.45 wt% carbon was determined as a function of strain rate. A predeformation of the low carbon steel leads to minor energy consumption. The work of deformation during shearing of the steel with 0.45 wt% rises with increasing grain size.
