One-layer boards of 20 mm thickness were prepared from the chips from sap- and heartwood of 20- and 126-year-old pine of the same site using melamine-urea-phenol-formaldehyde resin (PF-resin), tannin-formaldehyde resin (TF-resin) and an adhesive based on polymeric diisocyanate (PMDI). Some chemical properties of the boards were determined. The results reveal: pH-value and buffering capacity of water extracts derived from the boards depend mainly on the binder used. There is no clear influence of heart- and sapwood on the afore-mentioned properties.
