Title

Dynamic behaviour of thermomechanically treated ultra high strength steel under tensile and compressive loading

Abstract
Rods made from steel X 41 CrMoV 5 1 (similar to H 11) were thermomechanically treated and partially annealed. In both conditions, the steel exhibited very high strengths combined with good ductility, especially at high rates of strain. Under dynamic compressive loading, adiabatic shear bands led to fracture.
