Abstract
Different hard particles (SiC, TiC) are dispersed in light metals and alloys (Al99.99; AlSilOMg; TiAl6V4) by Co2 laser radiation. The hard particles are injected into the melting pool in rofm of a power gas stream which is delivered from a pneumatic powder feeding system. The processing results (dispersed geometry, Microstructure, hardness distribution) are discussed as a function of different processing parameters (Laser power, beam geometry, feed rate and powder feeding rate).
