Abstract
DE 102007000611 A1 UPAB: 20090527 NOVELTY - Coating surface of a light alloy substrate, comprises: (a) providing the light alloy substrate and optionally cleaning the substrate surface which is to be coated; and (b) coating the substrate surface, which is cleaned optionally in step (a), in a plasma polymerization reactor by plasma polymerization, where: in step (b), one or more silicon-organic compounds and neither further or further compounds are used as precursor for the plasma; and in step (b), the light alloy substrate is arranged in the plasma polymerization reactor in such a way that it is arranged between the zone. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Coating surface of a light alloy substrate, comprises: (a) providing the light alloy substrate and optionally cleaning the substrate surface which is to be coated; (b) coating the substrate surface, which is cleaned optionally in step (a), in a plasma polymerization reactor by plasma polymerization, where: in step (b), one or more silicon-organic compounds and neither further or further compounds are used as precursor for the plasma; and in step (b), the light alloy substrate is arranged in the plasma polymerization reactor in such a way that it is arranged between the zone, in which the plasma is formed, and is the cathode or works as cathode; and the process is led in such a way that the coating produced by the process exhibits: a portion of carbon of 5-20 atom %, preferably 10-15 atom %, which is determinable by measuring by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), relative to the total number of carbon-, silicon- and oxygen-atoms contained in the coating; yellow index of less than or equal to 3, preferably less than or equal to 2.5 determined according to ASTM D 1925; and a hardness, which is measured by nanoindentation, of 2.5-6 grade point average (GPa), preferably 3.1-6 GPa. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for the coated light alloy substrate, produced by the above process. USE - The coating is useful as substitute for an Eloxal (RTM: (Oxidatively anodized) aluminum coated articles) layer (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The coating exhibits no corrosion traces visible with the naked eye after 15-minutes corrosive attack of sodium hydroxide at pH of 13.5 and 30 degrees C.
