Internationalization of R&D and Global Management of Technological Competencies within Transnational Corporations

The internationalization of research and innovation raised serious coordination problems for multinational corporations. These companies respond by concentrating technological competencies at specific locations. This paper analyses new location factors driving the globalization of research and innovation and presents criteria for the establishment of competence centers.
