Abstract
DE 102006039471 B3 UPAB: 20080408 NOVELTY - The applicator (10) has an optical fiber with a cladding (2) comprising a defined recess with respect to a section of the cladding in a distal end section (13) of the fiber at several longitudinal coordinates. The recess has a vast portion of cladding thickness, and an elastic unit (6) is formed in such a manner that the distal section of the fiber adopts a permitted curved shape. The distal end section comprising a distal end of the applicator is pushed out of a guide catheter. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for manufacturing an applicator for treatment of body tissues. USE - Applicator for treating body tissues for endovascular photodynamic therapy of a thin hollow organ in an interventional cardiology for restenosis. ADVANTAGE - The applicator is designed in such a manner that it produces the radiation field, which is directed on an area to be extensively treated in a body tissue in a hollow organ of the body, thus heating the area of the body in an uniform manner.
