Abstract
With the advent of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), a large variety of WSN technologies is emerging. Introducing such evolving technologies in practice becomes a challenge, as both evolutions in time and in space have to be managed in a cost-effective and consistent way. This paper presents a lean approach for evolving heterogeneous wireless sensor networks. The approach is illustrated by showing how we have been integrating two popular wireless sensor networks, Particle Computers and the MICAz system, in a case study from ambient assisted living.
