Abstract
The presentation is roughly segmented into two parts. The first one compares different possibilities of automated material handling systems in general. On the basis of some KPIs their advantages as well as their disadvantages for the use in photovoltaic industry is demonstrated. The second part of the presentation is related to the simulation of such automated material handling systems. Some basic information about why and how to simulate are followed by a simplified simulation model of an automated guided vehicle approach in Thin Film Factories.
