Industrial white biotechnology

Germany is one of the leading countries in industrial biotechnology. Although weaknesses and risks exist (e.g. inadequate coordination of policy and regulation, not enough demonstration projects, risk aversion) industrial biotechnology offers enormous potentials for increased innovation and employment due to the strengths of the business location Germany (e.g. strong technological knowledge base, well-educated personnel, existence of successful companies in all application industries with access to large export markets).
