Titel
Noise reduction using structures based on coupled Helmholtz resonators
Abstract
This work is aimed to investigate phononic crystals and acoustic metamaterials for noise reduction applications. In particular, C-shaped coupled Helmholtz resonators are analyzed. Numerical calculations of infinite and semi-infinite structures demonstrate the existence of broadband gaps in audible sound range, which is supported by experimental data. Importantly, the considered structure can be made of rigid and lightweight elements available commercially, such as polymer water pipes.
