In the present study the local thermal sensation of subjects as well as the impact of local thermal sensation on the overall thermal sensation was investigated. Two different clothing insulations were compared. The aim of the study was to gain knowledge of thermal sensation of human beings due to clothing differences. Twelve subjects were asked to evaluate their thermal sensation at 27 locations of the body during a one hour exposure in a climatic chamber at 25 °C. Results show that the overall thermal sensation during cold sensation is influenced by cool body parts and during warm sensation by warm body regions. The results show how overall thermal sensation is influenced by regions of the body being uncovered or covered with clothing.
