Titel
Evaluation of Interactive Sound in a Gamified Learning Application
Abstract
Interactive sound is a subset of dynamic sound. It is denoted interactive because it succeeds an action by the user. An application is in the field of e-learning, where it supports the user in reaching the flow state. This paper examines in how interactive sound should be used to support the user in reaching the flow state and which errors should be avoided. For this purpose, user tests were carried out on an application in which users learned to fold origami figures. The results of user tests show that interactive sound could mainly be used to reproduce acoustic information. The user can control how often he wants to listen to information. In this way, excessive demands can be prevented. This supports the user in reaching the flow state in learning new information. However, new information should not only be conveyed with interactive sound, otherwise it can be overlooked. In addition, interactive sound effects were rated positively overall. The synchronicity of the picture content and the reproduced sound turned out as important for users.
