Abstract
Electric cars demand advanced specifications regarding passenger safety. For the safety-relevant battery system as well as for the whole electric car new material setups are required. This presentation shows inter alia material solutions for economically carbon fiber reinforced textiles, highly intrusion protective aluminum foam sandwiches with integrated thermal management and new production methods for hybrid components. The Fraunhofer Project Center Wolfsburg team develops new solutions in direct contact with industry and further research partners. In current aspirations this cooperation is broadened to Swedish partners in the areas lightweight and electric mobility.
