A new approach for using a standard quadratic model predictive control (MPC) for state signal shaping is proposed. The control strategy embeds a property through a linear difference equation into the standard MPC structure. An application example for calculating the reference current of an active power filter device to achieve load compensation on a distribution grid integrated with renewable energy is given.
