Titel
Carbon and ceramic materials based on natural flax fibres
Abstract
Bioorganic fibres offer structural, economic and ecologic advantages in the design and production of biogenic ceramic materials. The hierarchic biological structures result from a long-term genetic optimization process. Due to the composite morphology the natural fibres offer a high effective interaction between individual structural features providing high mechanical strength and flexibility at low density. Additionally the high carbon content presents a challenge for the generation of the carbon based materials.
