Virtual Reality for ready-to-use industrial applications. To utilise the potentials of Virtual Reality for small and medium-size enterprises (SME)
Abstract

High capital investment for the necessary VR-hardware and -software as well as the limited field of application of these components for other applications are presently limiting the use of Virtual Reality for SME. The coupling of simulation with VR and real control systems for Teleoperation of machines/equipment is an important research field at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA), Stuttgart. Therefore applications for industry are developed which are PC based and thus make the product and production development with Virtual Reality economically interesting.
