Abstract
This paper describes an approach for capturing the current state and progress of construction in a ships outfitting process. Instead of expensive laser scanners, mobile devices like smartphones are used. The collected data is the basis to create point clouds and 3D models, which can be made available to the different service providers. The representation of the current state of construction as a 3D model makes it easier to adapt the production planning without entering the ship. This leads to a reduction of unproductive times and associated costs, which are caused when workers find a deviating state of construction in the ship and thus cannot start working in time.
