Titel
Development of an ISO standard draft for the assessment of systems of conformity in the field of formaldehyde emission of wood based panels
Abstract
This presentation is an introduction of a new approach to assess the quality control components of the factory production control in wood-based panel production lines respecting formaldehyde emission or content. The standardisation project deals with the question: are the security levels to guarantee the compliance with a requirement of different production lines the same or different while using the same conformity system? Based on operating experience, the main components of conformity systems requirements, initial type testing, factory production control and inspection by an inspection body are considered and assessed. The new standard should harmonize internationally the assessment of quality control systems and provide a point based system to assess the existing facilities of each single quality assessment system. This standard should be a document, designed for common and repeated use, to be used as a guideline. It should be both consensus-built and approved by a recognized body. This standard should bring together all interested parties such as manufacturers, third party certifiers and regulators of wood-based panels. All parties should benefit from this standard through increased product safety and quality as well as lower transaction costs and prices.
